WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association (RGA) released the following statement in response to Josh Shapiro announcing his re-election bid for Governor of Pennsylvania:
“Under Josh Shapiro’s complete fiscal mismanagement, Pennsylvania families are paying more for groceries, utilities, and basic needs. Shapiro has been more focused on his political ambitions while Pennsylvania’s economy, fiscal stability, and business climate are among the worst in the country. That’s not being a leader, it’s being a politician,” said RGA Communications Director Courtney Alexander.
Josh Shapiro’s Record:
Under Shapiro’s leadership, Pennsylvania ranks near the bottom in the national state rankings. Pennsylvania’s economy and fiscal stability rank among the lowest and the Commonwealth also ranks as one of the worst states for jobs.
Shapiro, a career politician, supported the Biden administration’s agenda that crippled the economy and caused sky-high inflation.
Shapiro accepted tickets to sporting events worth thousands of dollars from special interests, including the Super Bowl, in spite of his own gift ban for executive branch employees.
Shapiro supports amnesty for illegal immigrants and has refused to assist in efforts to secure the border and keep families safe. Pennsylvania has one of the largest sanctuary cities in the country.
Shapiro vetoed a statewide school-choice program, even though 69 percent of 8th grade students in Pennsylvania are not proficient at math and cannot read at grade level.
Shapiro supports allowing biological men to play in girls’ school sports in Pennsylvania.
